Students learned and completed the "grand traverse" this morning. Cerritans have a variety of activities available to them for refocussing attention: a stump with hammer and nails, a secluded work space with headphones and classical music, and the grand traverse. I'm open to any fantastic ideas you may have!

Book talk

The hopes and dreams flower. Students used computers for the first time today, taking photos of their hopes and dreams flowers and uploading them to their digital portfolios on Voicethread. As we get these going, I will share them.
Homework:
Map worksheet called Trails to the West - due tomorrow
Read for 20 minutes
Fill out and return photo order form
Math:
4th Grade Math:  Today we continued our review and development of the subtraction operation.  Homework tonight:  Each child has a specific page of subtraction to hone their skills at his or her level of understanding.  Some students are finishing work from class time, and others have a new sheet.  Please read the 4th Grade Math letter for more details about general homework expectations.
5th grade has a multiplication worksheet downloadable on Monday's blog. They choose the problems that they solve based on what is hard for them – their "multiplication demons". They design a "hint" which amounts to a starter problem to help them figure out their demon. For example, 8 x 9 = 72 could be solved by doing (8 x 10) - 8.
