Thank you Leo and Maya for the exquisite flowers this week. And thank you to the organizers of the flower sign-up, Jean and Heather, especially. Thanks for making our classroom beautiful.

Hillary taught an important lesson in readers workshop on what to do when our "mental movie grows blurry." Check below for the details. Strong reading instruction is explicit: did anyone ever teach you what to do when you got the reading fuzz?

Students keep track of the books they are reading, the pages they have read, and keep sticky notes of their ideas about books in their "My Reading Life" folders. Below, one student fills out her reading record. She's on her eighth book already!

State research. Students got working on their maps in earnest this afternoon.

Homework:
4th and 5th grade math. 5th graders check the top toolbar for downloads. 4th graders click on the Strawberry blog in the same toolbar.

Finish Lesson 1 in Wordly Wise. If you spend 20 minutes or more and are still not finished, relax, I'll give you time tomorrow. If you are already finished, click on Map Puzzles at the top of this page and spend 20 minutes working on your states and capitals.

Read 20 minutes and fill out reading log.
