Cartoon Art Museum

That's just the kind of day it was in San Francisco today. Gorgeous.

Have you seen "Up?"

This group was so focussed in the museum. I was a proud teacher.

I framed the museum experience with a variety of drawing prompts you can see in the following photos. Before they drew, students had five minutes to tour the whole space. They were then asked to draw a map of what they had scene. That was a "binoculars" experience. The following were "microscope" experiences.

Students eventually spent 20 minutes with one cartoon and drew it to the best of their ability. Wow.

Double wow. Check out the shading under the chin.
Homework is to read for 20 minutes and fill out reading log. Fifth graders had math homework last night that's due tomorrow. If they didn't do it last night, tonight's the night. Check the top of the page for a download.
