Word study

Students worked in small groups on a photosynthesis game. They first watched a brainpop video that teaches the basics of how photosynthesis works, then they used a spinner to place carbon dioxide and water molecules on a chart. M&Ms were oxygen, Skittles were carbon, and peanuts were hydrogen. Once they filled up enough molecules, a chemical reaction took place and turned them into glucose, oxygen, and water. At that point, students got to eat the game pieces.

A close look at the game board.

Homework:
Math worksheet (download above)
Science writing and drawing about photosynthesis (impossible to do if you weren't here)
Read for 20 minutes or much much more
