Diseños and portfolios

This week we teachers are busy with our list of action items from conferences–making checklists to help students remember important things, differentiating instruction across the curriculum, having follow-up conferences with students, etc. The portfolios will come home today with specific instructions on how to have a parent-student conference. Basically, have them explain the portfolio to you and listen closely as they show their favorite work. Ask questions, and in the end, write them a letter on the form provided (unless you'd prefer to type or use more beautiful stationery, of course). This will complete the feedback loop, and get us all on the same page for our work together in the next few months.

Homework:
Sit down with your parents to view portfolios by next Monday. Send them back to school when you're done!

Write for 20 minutes (your choice)
Read for 20+ minutes and make a prediction on your weekly planner

A diseño of Strawberry Creek Park

Students gave peer feedback to each other's diseños on sticky notes.

Stephen facilitated rough and tumble play on the yard today (RTP). It was, in a word, awesome.
