All hands on deck for sewing this afternoon. Our first handmade bonnet got finished. See the photo below. 


It's been a crux figuring out how to support the bonnets. The answer: chicken wire. 


So much has gone into these wagons over the last few weeks, and the photos have dominated the blogs. You may wonder if we've been doing anything else. We have simultaneously begun a classroom economy that I'll send you an in-depth email on, begun a fifth grade stock market project in math, and taken our independent reading to all new depths with mini-lessons and conferences. We'll get back to a more normal schedule after next week, which will be a relief, but we'll be busy, busy, busy until then. 
Homework:
Finish the cultural studies reading and questions on Wives and Mothers. We'll go over it tomorrow afternoon. 
Math: both grades. Sorry there are no fifth grade downloads above – it's been a wildly busy week.
