Cerrito scientists began a unit in botany this afternoon with a leaf scavenger hunt. They learned how to tell the difference between pinnate, variegated, and simple leaves. They learned the difference between macroscopic and microscopic features. We'll head to the botanical garden next week in pursuit of more knowledge and experience in the wonderful world of plants.

Mushrooms often get lumped into botany, but they are fungi of course. I recently read a book that made a rather convincing argument that fungi are more closely related to humans than plants on a cellular level. Plant or not, this was a nice find.
