These cumulus congestus couldn't seem to make up their mind today until fourth grade PE, when everybody got soaked and many were heard saying, "That was the best PE ever!!!" Coach Craig volunteered to come over to your house and do laundry tonight :)

There, their, or they're? That is the question...

Students collaborated to comment on a Voicethread on packaged foods. Tomorrow, we will visit Andronico's on a "supermarket safari" in search of the best and worst of packaged goods. View their comments here.

Students danced the troika today in preparation for their Ft. Ross experience in February. I spent all weekend up there with room parent Joan Bostian getting oriented. It is going to be the trip of a lifetime. Stay tuned for parent information sessions and volunteer opportunities. I was really impressed by how willing they were to shake a leg!
Homework:
Read for 30 minutes
Spelling practice
Choose a new book for the Students Recommend shelf. Write a very short recommendation on the note card you received at the end of class today.
Math
Fourth graders counted around the class today by 2's and then by 6's.  Then they found all the factors of 100, using different methods--some students found thinking about money was helpful. We started finding the factors of 200 and 300, which we will continue tomorrow.

Fourth grade math homework (due Tues., 10/11)

Fifth graders spent considerable time again today on the problem of the week, some students working toward an algebraic expression of how to find the number of squares in a given grid. They continued their work on division with multiple towers. Look forward to a unique mathematics activity tomorrow as they explain their thinking and learning through an online tool called Voicethread.
