Cerrito Creek got back into the swing of things today after nine days apart. Students told joyful tales of adventures on the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk, spying on their teacher in Yosemite, and West Coast jetsetting. They were, amazingly enough, able to channel that joy into their learning today, and we dove into our study of the Gold Rush, which will take us pretty much through the end of the year. Fifth graders also began a study of probability and data that will include a stock market project in which they will "buy" stocks based on stock histories and track their progress each day.

Wordly Wise: 20 minutes or about two pages
Read for 20+ minutes and produce a summary. Finish your literature circle job for tomorrow if you have not yet.
