Fifth graders played a game of multiplication bullseye this morning, in which they had to round two-digit multiplication problems to estimate an answer. Estimation is one of the most important skills in mathematics.

Kate Klaire is helping us engage a changing world this year by partnering with the Shorebird Nature Center in the Berkeley Marina. We walked down today, participated in an hour of education of the why and how of shoreline clean-up, then donned latex gloves, etc. and cleaned our adopted stretch of shoreline. The students were exuberant.

These are the human beings that will inherit this world. We can be proud.
